Since 1981, the U.S. has protected our oceans with a moratorium on oil and gas development on parts of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). But now the oil industry, along with its friends in Congress, have put the oceans in their crosshairs once again, ignoring the fact that drilling will do nothing to lower costs at the pump, and will put the oceans unnecessarily at risk. The steady drumbeat to lift the moratorium on oil and gas drilling on the nation’s Outer Continental Shelf is building to a crescendo this week. The House of Representatives is likely to vote on whether to allow offshore drilling this Friday, September 12th. We need your help, so tell Congress today not to authorize the drilling of our coasts!
